Picture Day: Sunday March 1
- Ballet: 10:20am
- Acro: 10:40am
Please be ‘camera ready’ at your scheduled time. Costume, hair and (if wearing) light make-up. We try our best to stay on a tight schedule to get everyone some beautiful pictures and back to their day. Please help us stay on time by being ready to go at your scheduled time.
Rehearsal and Recital:
- Rehearsal: Tuesday, May 5
- Recital: Thursday, May 7
Because many of our students are enrolled in Acro, the hairstyle for ALL Primary Level students is two LOW ‘SPACE BUNS’ instead of a single Ballet Bun.
YOUR CHILD REQUIRES A HAIRNET FOR EACH BUN. Hairnets are a must to keep the buns in place. We have hairnets for sale in the lobby (50 cents each; just leave payment inside the canister) or you can buy them in any drugstore/Walmart etc.
This is a helpful video on how to do a SINGLE Ballet bun. Remember that you are doing 2 buns with a part down the middle.
Start at 4:00 minutes if you can do a good ponytail!
PLACEMENT: The buns must be LOWER than the crown of your child’s head. If they are too high, your child will have difficulty executing such elements as front rolls, headstands and tripods.
Bobby Pins? Hairpins?

Hairpins are a must for buns. Bobby pins will work their way out and not hold.
Bobby pins are a must for securing hairpieces. Hairpins won’t grip the hair piece and will slide out. Cross two bobby pins in an ‘X’ to secure a hair piece. Repeat until the hairpiece feels secure.
Trust us on this one!
Picture Day: Makeup is not necessary for Picture Day. Your child should look as they normally do. A little powder on the forehead will control shine.
Recital: Makeup is a fun part of the theatrical world and being ‘stage-ready’ and we encourage our dance families to enjoy the experience. Stage lighting washes out facial features and without a little extra colour, performers look featureless.
- Powder on forehead to combat shine
- Blush on cheeks (pink)
- Lipstick (pink)
- Eye Makeup: mascara is problematic for most children, so unless you know your child can handle it, please do not apply it. A little soft brown or grey eyeliner and shadow can help to define eyes. PLEASE, NO BLUE!!!
Please, no nailpolish or temporary tattoos, etc
Ballet:

Hair: space buns (see ‘Hair’ above) with hairpiece secured on top of head with crossed bobby pins.
- Use bobby pins to secure the hairpiece NOT hairpins.
- Use hairpins for spacebuns NOT bobby pins.
